Abstract

A South Korean SME specialised in developing and manufacturing particle/humidity/temperature sensors is looking for a German partner to participate Korea-Germany bilateral call together. The potential partner is expected to have expertise in microelectromechanical systems simulation and processing. The profile holder is interested in research and development cooperation.

Description

Background
A South Korean SME is active in the field of environment, safety, and health related sensors and electronic control systems for commercial and industrial applications. The company is looking for a partner to conduct Korea-Germany bilateral call together. Their aim is to develop a small-sized internet of things applicable ultrafine particle sensor. The final result is expected to be applied in various fields such as healthcare, air quality measurement for automotive application, home appliances and etc.

Target
The objective of this project is to be able to (1) measure particle size below 1um, (2) develop an algorithm that analyses the measured input signal and makes accurate judgement. Most of all, the consortium aims to (3) develop the technology for mass production and calibration.
The whole project consists of developing microelectromechanical systems pump, micro-separator, micro-chamber structure design & production, optical design, sensor packaging & housing, technology development of algorithm & calibration, application specific integrated circuit design & production technique, technology development of mass production equipment, technology development of internet of things communication, and securement of reliability technology.

Role of the company
The whole consortium will consist of three organisations including the profile holder. There are two organisations in the consortium now and they are looking for the third partner. The third partner should have an expertise in microelectromechanical systems production and fabrication. The profile holder is looking for a German partner to sign on a consortium agreement.

Fine particle sensor has been already commercialized, and research & development for sensor-miniaturization is being pushed forward. Besides, cantilever type microelectromechanical systems sensor which has different measuring principle is being studied at the moment. However, there has been no research for making air flow structure with microelectromechanical systems structure.
